This collection is inspired by memories and things I’ve cherished over time. It’s a homage to the carefree spirit and self-expression younger me started for the me now. As a child, purple was always my favorite color. Years later, I’ve become a “red girlie,” but purple will always hope the title of my “favorite” and first love. While I wear red on my sleeves, purple remains in my heart. It represents a deep connection and bond I’ve given myself in order to not forget. The story I’m sharing is one of growing from childlike wonder to deeper understanding over time. Though this collection, I aim to evoke emotions, create, and share my nostalgic journey with others who can resonate about holding on. Designed in Spring 2025 for her Senior Textiles and Apparel Capstone Collection at UT Austin. Further below is my process for this collection. Enjoy ^^

A dive into my monochromatic draping garment from Fall 2024. From processes such as dyeing, gathering, jewelry making, and going through the conflicts of time we now have the "Playful Girl." She's inspired by my affinity for the color red (which pops up frequently in my everyday life) and my childhood. She's made of raspberry poly-taffeta and dyed denim (color matching was tricky, but we did it after three sessions)! The top is stuffed with poly-fill and contains channel/top stitching that follows the flower motif seen in my process book. The bubble hem has tulle inside to help with maintaining volume. Its closure is eyelets on the side with a denim tie, the top overall is versatile and can be rotated/worn any way depending on the user. The bottoms are dyed denim bloomers lined with taffeta. Lastly, accessories such as the button necklace and bracelet were hand-crafted to complement the garments and it's playful nature!

This project was to pick a brand and to create a collection. I chose Betsey Johnson, because I've always been a Betsey girl as well as wanted to have fun with women's wear! To me, the season meant lots of movement and being able to have fun. It led me to think about the choice in fabrics pretty deeply because movement means fabric that will allow for that. The collection is Spring 2025 and named "Fruitful Bunch," where I played around with silhouettes, colors, textures, etc. I really wanted to channel Betsey in this, as the brand has been incorporating more kitsch items while still keeping my style of designing.

A summer session long project (UTNY- Marketing Course) with a group of 6 people (Myself, Ulysses Garcia, Maria Cavazos, Isabella Barcenas, Anayeli Hinojosa, and Ashritha Chandy) to create a marketing plan for a real business venture. The company had to be based in New York City and followed a rubric that required research on the company using outside resources.

The Kendra Scott accessory design class that is offered by UT Austin only occurs in the Fall semester with a limited number of students. During the semester (Fall 2023), I was assigned to a team and worked with them all semester long to ideate, create, organize, and execute our visions. Every one to two weeks we were assigned to projects with a specific rubric that got presented to Kendra Scott mentors, who gave critiques and opinions on each group. The input was then used for the final project, which included everything from research, sketches, development, prototyping, and advertising! Lastly all final designs were launched into a voting poll for the public to vote, and the winner's design got manufactured by Kendra Scott. Although my group did not win, I was proud of the work we accomplished and we all learned more about the design and manufacturing process.
